Understanding Spaces

Find the right guide for your Space.

On this page

A Space is a shared workspace in the app. You can use several Spaces, with a separate role in each.

The Space ID always stays the same

The Space ID is a ten-digit number at the start of every address in the Space. You can find it in the general settings under Space ID.

  • You cannot change the Space ID, even by renaming the Space.
  • It is not secret and does not grant access on its own.

The display name helps you recognise your Space

The display name appears in the Space switcher, your list of Spaces and the settings. You can change the name; the Space ID and addresses stay the same.

Where does the display name appear outside the app?
  • in invitations and on the page for accepting an invitation
  • on the page for restoring a Space
  • in both emails about deleting the Space

The address determines which Space you work in

If the address starts with a Space ID, you work in that Space, provided you are a member. Use the Space switcher to choose another one.

You can also open a saved address of a Space you belong to, for example from a bookmark. The app remembers this Space. An address without a Space ID uses the remembered Space.

Which addresses do not specify a Space?

This applies to your personal account pages (your profile, account security, list of Spaces and connected applications) and the addresses / and /settings, for example after signing in. If you do not belong to the remembered Space, the app uses the first Space you joined instead.

Your role determines what you can change in a Space

Whoever creates the Space has the Owner role. The table shows permissions for the Space itself; see the role overview for other permissions.

Set up a new Space when you first open it

As Owner or Administrator, enter a name and time zone in the dialog. The guide shows you how to set up the Space.

Every Space has a time zone

Until someone chooses a time zone, it uses Europe/Berlin. You can change it in the general settings.

You cannot open a blocked Space

An unconfirmed Space or one scheduled for deletion does not appear in your lists and cannot be opened. To unblock it:

What happens to the websites in a blocked Space?

TEISENDA takes the Space's websites offline, and the Connector reports that the Space is blocked. For an explanation of this message, see Troubleshooting the Connector.

Confirm the Space after signing up

If you sign up with an email address and password, your first Space is initially blocked. Open the link in the confirmation email to unblock it.

Warning

Without confirmation, TEISENDA removes the Space after seven days plus one additional buffer day. Your account is also removed if it does not belong to another Space.

I sign in while confirmation is still pending

If you have no confirmed Space and confirmation is still pending, Confirm your email opens. Use Resend email to have the email sent again.

Deleting a Space first schedules its removal

After you delete a Space, it is blocked immediately. You can restore it for 30 days using the link in the email; permanent deletion follows after that. The guide Delete and restore a Space explains the requirements and consequences.
